Freshlook Colorblends Contact Lenses Review

As a participant in Pretty Sexy Beautiful Eyes Blogging Contest organised by Tammy from Plus Size Kitten and Mr Lens, today I hand you my verdict on the Freshlook Colorblends lenses that I tried out.

 

My history with contact lenses began waaay back when I was only 12. Back then it wasn't even popular among my peers but I felt the need to impress this crush of mine during my year-end catechism classes. If you don't know what a catechism class is, it's like Sunday school at or near your church. For my church, they do this 2-week catechism every end of the year for young girls and boys. It was almost the end of the program and I thought I couldn't part my crush and leave a lasting impression without looking cute, e.g. shake off my girl-Harry-Potter look and still be able to admire his face or know that he's looking my way too. Pretty mature for a 12-year-old, I know I know.

I still remember how those clear powered toric lenses cost me a fortune as a kid. When I handed my money to the local optician, who strongly advised me against wearing contact lenses at such a young age then since the eyeballs only stop growing after the age of 15, I was literally handing over two weeks' worth of lunch money plus the fruit of alleged scheming on my parents XD


Good thing lenses are so much more accessible, affordable and come in pretty colours and patterns nowadays. Now, all my friends know that I love my online shopping, thus "accessible" by my standard has to equal no more going to optician to make your order, wait for 3-4 days before picking them up (at least this has always been the case for me and my very defected eyes); instead, I just sit and roll at home / sit and work in office and have my lenses delivered to my doorstep. Freshlook Colorblends in Gray.

The colour is very natural and appropriate for daily wear.

Prior to this contest I had actually been introduced to Freshlook Colorblends so they are not exactly new to me. However, I purchased only two colours before - Sterling Gray and Amethyst. And I was very much obsessed with Sterling Gray because it could give such a wonderful sharp look, yet sorta natural, that no other colours could. I bet it looked natural to many people as well coz there was once when my lecturer actually thought I was suffering from a disease that led to the lightened rings in my irises haha! True story.

This time I still wanted to try something in gray so I picked out just the Gray, a more understated colour  than Sterling Gray albeit still pretty - perfect for workplace if you like neutrals for work.

Comfort from these lenses surprisingly works quite well for me. But do note that my eyes are naturally dry so I do use eye drops on a daily basis, and with the help of external moisture these lenses did last me at least 10 hours before my vision started getting blurry or my eyes intolerably dry. It went well over 12 hours before I finally took them off this past Saturday when I hung out an entire day with a friend visiting from my hometown.

Another thing that I like about Freshlook Colorblends is that they are so easy to be taken off! Not sure if it's my daily clear lenses that are too slippery under comparison, I find these coloured lenses much easier to be popped off. I cannot stress enough how this is important to me because I've experienced too many times the agony of having lenses stuck in my eyes and I had to continue pinching even after it began to reaaaaaally hurt.

I believe the only downside for some might be the diameter that is 14.5mm wide which does not provide  much of an iris-enlarging effect.
